Education For Economically Underprivileged
- SFC Scholarship Program
This is our flagship program. At any point in time, over 100 children are enrolled in this program. We believe that deserving students should not be held back from pursuing higher education due to want of finances. Those who achieve minimum cut-off marks in their school leaving examination are entitled to avail of our scholarship for higher education.
- Mentoring Scholars Program
It is not enough to provide financial support for higher studies. These students need mentoring in spoken English, public speaking and confidence building, computer literacy, and study groups in specific subjects. Our scholars meet once a month, and volunteers coach them in these fields. Many students who have gone on to pursue successful careers have acknowledged the tremendous difference the mentoring program has made to them.
- Step-up Program
Primary school children who do not develop language and arithmetic skills early tend to fall back in high school. It becomes difficult to make up in later years. Our Step-up program is designed to develop such skills in the early years. Seniors For Change provides workbooks and pre-designed English, Kannada, and Arithmetic lessons. Graduate students volunteer to take additional classes.
- Smart Education Program
This program aims to improve the quality of learning through digital education and imparting basic computer literacy. Seniors For Change provides digital education aids such as smart boards, laptops, and tablets.
- Nutrition For Growth Program
Primary school children usually get to eat their first meal at 1 p.m. as part of the government’s mid-day meal scheme. Seniors For Change is running a pilot program in one of its schools. The program collects data on the physical growth parameters of children and provides a scientifically designed nutritive supplement along with a hunger filler in the morning. After a year, the physical growth parameters will be measured again to assess the difference the program makes.
- Personality Development Program
Seniors For Change is conducting a year-long yoga program at the Government Girls School at Hoskote. The module is designed in line with the Bihar School of Yoga guidelines and delivered by trained yoga instructors. Improvements in psycho-emotional and cognitive measures are being tracked to measure the impact of the program.
Another program is the encouragement of sports in the primary school at Appareddypalya.
